Built To Fit
A large-scale 20mx50m clear span stretch structure, precisely point-clouded and integrated within the heritage site of Bokrijk.
The briefing
The ask was clear: design and install a large-scale hybrid stretch structure around an existing fixed grandstand, without disrupting the integrity of the site.
The Challenge
Two worlds meeting: heritage and high-end engineering. In the historic Bokrijk, a large-scale stretch structure had to wrap itself around an existing grandstand, carefully, and without stepping on history’s toes.
Complexity
The margin for error was minimal. The structure had to align precisely with fixed reference points and tight clearances, leaving little room for adjustment on site. No room to "see how it goes", just geometry playing with reality.

Blending in
Fitting a large-scale stretch membrane structure around an existing grandstand required precise alignment between design and reality. The grandstand was scanned on site into a 3D model, allowing the structure to be developed around the existing geometry — before a single piece of truss set foot on site.
A high-precision digital workflow kept everything in check. Design and engineering ran in parallel. During installation, all baseplate positions were set out using GPS — the structure knew where to go before we did.
The result: a large-scale hybrid stretch structure seamlessly integrated within a heritage environment — where precision isn't optional.
